How your PC gaming account relates to your Microsoft Store account

When you sign into the Xbox PC app, the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox profile will be used in the Xbox app for access to Xbox Game Pass and all other purchases, including the rights to purchased games.
If you’re planning to play games or use subscriptions purchased by someone else who uses that PC—a parent, for example—you’ll need to add their account in the Xbox app settings. Otherwise, games already installed using that account won’t launch because they weren’t purchased using the account you use to play games.
To change the Microsoft Store account for sharing purchases and licences in the Xbox app:
  1. Launch the Xbox app and sign in with the Microsoft account you use for Xbox.
  2. Select your gamerpic, then select Settings.
  3. Under Account, select Change Microsoft Store account.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the Microsoft account for the games you’ll be playing.
