Access to the content servers is currently unavailable error message

Note: If the problem persists after doing the steps detailed in this article,  it means that you have reached your data cap limit. The data cap will reset at the date you have set up—by default, it should be on the first day of every month, unless you have selected a different day—but we are aware of an issue where the data cap doesn't always refresh.

This issue is tracked and will be fixed in a patch soon. Thank you for your patience while we're working on preparing the new updates.

To fix this issue, please do the following:

1. Sign out of the Microsoft Store App, the Xbox App, the Xbox Companion app, and Microsoft Flight Simulator

  • Log out of the Microsoft Store App
    • Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer
      • In the Windows Search Bar, type "Store"
      • Click on Microsoft Store and select "Open" in the menu

      • Click on the icon in the top right-hand side corner of the screen

      • Under your email address, click on Sign Out

  • Log out of the Xbox App (beta) (if installed)
    • Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer
      • In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox"
      • Select "Open" in the menu

      • Click on the icon in the right-hand side corner of the screen
      • Select Sign out

  • Log out of the Xbox Companion App (if installed)
    • Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer
      • In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox Companion"
      • Select "Open" in the menu

        • Go to Settings
        • Click on Sign out

2. Uninstall the Xbox App and/or the Xbox Companion App

  • A) Uninstall the Xbox App (beta)
    • Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer
      • In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox"
      • Click on the arrow to open the full menu
      • Select Uninstall

  • B) Uninstall the Xbox Companion App
    • Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer
      • In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox Companion"
      • Click on the arrow to open the full menu
      • Select Uninstall

  • C) Reboot the computer

 

3. (Re)install the Xbox App

  • Reinstall the Xbox App (beta) from here

 

4. Sign back in the Microsoft Store, the Xbox App and Microsoft Flight Simulator with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator

  • A) Sign back in the Microsoft Store with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • B) Sign in the Xbox App with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • C) Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator as an administrator and sign back with the credentials of the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
