XBOX LIVE OUTAGE

Intermittent connectivity issues with Xbox Live can cause this error. 

To check Xbox Live Status, visit https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status 

 

REFRESH YOUR CONNECTION TO XBOX LIVE

If Xbox Live is up and running but you're seeing this error message, follow the instructions below steps by steps, in that order.

  1. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator and sign out 
  2. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator
  3. Log out of the Microsoft Store app 
  4. Log out of the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC (if installed)
  5. Log out of the Xbox Companion App (if installed)
  6. Uninstall the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC (if installed)
  7. Uninstall the Xbox Companion App (if installed)
  8. Reboot the computer
  9. Install the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC from here
  10. Sign in to the Microsoft Store app with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
  11. Sign in to the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
  12. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator from the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC instead of the Microsoft Store
  13. Sign in to Microsoft Flight Simulator with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
ADDITIONAL TROUBLESHOOTING

If the message doesn't disappear after that OR if the message appeared after closing an update before it was fully installed or after moving the installation folders please do the following:

1. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator and navigate to the UserCfg.opt file that you can find at the following location by default:

 C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

2. Open the UserCFG.opt file with Notepad, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and delete the following line

"C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages"

3. Relaunch the Microsoft Flight Simulator

4. Sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator

5. The "Set Up Your Experience" screen will appear again

6. Make sure that the installation path points to the folder where the packages are installed

 

STEPS-BY-STEPS "HOW TO"

 

Sign out of Microsoft Flight Simulator

  1. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
  2. Click on your icon & gamertag in the top right-hand side corner of the screen
  3. Click on Sign out
  4. Exit Microsoft Flight Simulator

Log out of the Microsoft Store App

1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer

2. In the Windows Search Bar, type "Store"

3. Click on Microsoft Store and select "Open" in the menu

4. Click on the icon in the top right-hand side corner of the screen

5. Click on your email address

6. Select Sign out

Log out of the Xbox App (beta) 

1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer

2. In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox"

3. Select "Open" in the menu

4. Click on the icon in the right-hand side corner of the screen

5. In the drop-down menu, select Sign out

Log out of the Xbox Companion App 

1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer

2. In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox console"

3. Select "Open" in the menu

4. In the left menu, click on the cog icon to open Settings

5. Click on Sign out

Uninstall the Xbox App (beta)

1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer

2. In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox"

3. Click on the arrow to expand the full menu

4. Select Uninstall

Uninstall the Xbox Companion App

1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer

2. In the Windows Search Bar, type "Xbox console"

3. Click on the arrow to expand the full menu

4. Select Uninstall

NOTE: After uninstalling the Xbox App and Xbox Console Companion App, reboot the computer.

 

Download and install the Xbox App for Windows 10 PC

  1. Download the Xbox App for Windows 10 PC here.
  2. Reboot your computer
  3. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator from the Xbox app

 

Note: If the problem persists after doing the steps detailed in this article,  it means that you have reached your data cap limit. The data cap will reset at the date you have set up—by default, it should be on the first day of every month, unless you have selected a different day.
