When launching the sim, you are greeted with the following error message:

Access to the content server is currently unavailable. Please ensure you have an active internet connection, and try again later.

This message appears when your game entitlements are not recognized or outdated. If you're using Wi-Fi, switch to an LTE or wired connection. This will help ensure that you are on a stable internet connection.

XBOX LIVE OUTAGE

It might not be you, it might be Xbox Live. Check the Xbox Live Status for potential outages or limited access. Check the official Xbox Support Twitter for updates on network outages.

RE-ENTER YOUR CREDENTIALS AND ENSURE THAT NO UPDATES ARE MISSING

First, complete our Microsoft Store - Download & Installation issues, Part I - Checklist to ensure no essential application updates are waiting to install and that your connection to Xbox services is fully restarted.

INSTALL THE XBOX APP

If the problem persists after completing the Microsoft Store - Download & Installation issues, Part I - Checklist install the Xbox App to authenticate your game entitlements.

  1. Download and install the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC from this page
  2. Sign in to the Xbox app with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
  3. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator from the Xbox app instead of the Microsoft Store
  4. Sign in to Microsoft Flight Simulator with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator

If your game entitlements are still missing despite installing the Xbox App, you'll need to reinstall Gaming Services. See: Microsoft Store - Cannot install or update Gaming Services
