Microsoft Flight Simulator FAQ

All versions - The Marketplace tab and/or Online services are grayed out


You cannot open the Marketplace because the Marketplace tab is grayed out and/or Online Services are off.


To fix this issue, re-enter your credentials and restart Online Functionality.



Re-enter your credentials to refresh your connection to Xbox Services.



  • Open the Microsoft Store App installed on your computer
  • Click on the icon in the top right corner of the screen. The email address in use will appear.

  • Click on the email address. A pop-up will appear.
  • Click Sign out.
  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator. Your gamertag appears in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Click on Sign out, and close Microsoft Flight Simulator.

  • Reboot your computer
  • Open the Microsoft Store app.
  • Click on the icon in the top right corner, then click on Sign in.
  • Sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator.
  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator. You will be prompted to sign in again. Beneath your gamertag, you will see the email address in use*.
  • Sign in with the email address and gamertag used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator.

* If the email address under your gamertag is different from the email address used to log in to the Microsoft Store app/purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator, click on "sign in with a different account" or "Switch accounts.



  1. Click on your gamertag in the top right corner of the screen
  2. Click Sign out
  3. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  4. Highlight the game, press the Menu button on your controller, and select Quit.
  5. Restart the game.



How to restart Online Functionality

  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Go to Options > General > Data
  • Toggle Online Functionality OFF
  • Click on Apply & Save
  • Toggle Online Functionality ON
  • Click on Apply & Save


Online Services automatically will also shut off when you have reached the monthly data limit. If your current Data Consumption is superior to the Data Limit you have set up:

  • Turn Data Limitation OFF


  • Increase the Data Limit (GIB)
