When launching the sim, you are greeted with the following error message:
Access to the content server is currently unavailable. Please ensure you have an active internet connection, and try again later.
This message appears when your game entitlements are not recognized or are outdated. If you're using Wi-Fi, switch to an LTE or wired connection. This will help ensure that you are on a stable internet connection.
XBOX LIVE OUTAGE
It might not be you, it might be Xbox Live. Check the Xbox Live Status for potential outages or limited access. Check the official Xbox Support Twitter for updates on network outages.
RE-ENTER YOUR CREDENTIALS
- Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator and sign out.
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator.
- Log out of your Steam account.
- Reboot the computer.
- Launch Steam and sign back into the Steam account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator.
- Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator and log in with the gamertag (Xbox Live account) linked to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
ADDITIONAL TROUBLESHOOTING
Update the UserCFG.opt file if you are in one of the following situations
- The message appeared after closing an update before it was fully installed (CTD, power cut, etc...).
- The message appeared after moving the packages installation folder to a new drive.
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Navigate to the UserCfg.opt file that you can find at the following location by default:

- C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator

- Open the UserCFG.opt file with Notepad, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Delete the line

- InstalledPackagesPath InstalledPackagesPath "C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages"

- Relaunch the Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator.
- The Set Up Your Experience screen will appear.
- Ensure the installation path points to the correct folder where the packages are installed.
