The steps below are particularly useful if:
- You cannot install or update Gaming Services
- You are redirected to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services when trying to install or launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
INSTALL GAMING SERVICES
If Gaming Services is missing from your apps list:
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Go to https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9MWPM2CQNLHN
- Log in with the email address used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Click on Install/Open
- Wait for the system to install Gaming Services
- Reboot your computer
- Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
RESET THE MICROSOFT STORE APP
If Gaming Services is already in your apps list but you are redirected to the store.
- On your keyboard, press the “Win Logo” + “R” keys
- Type: WSReset.exe and press “Enter”
- A black window will pop up
- Wait until the pop up disappears and the Store comes up
- Reboot your computer
UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL GAMING SERVICES VIA POWERSHELL
If the problem persists after that, delete the Gaming Services registry keys and reinstall the Gaming Services app via Powershell.
- In the Windows search bar, type Windows PowerShell
- In the menu, select "Run as administrator"
- In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
- In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
- Click Install** to install Gaming Services (select Yes if you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt)
- Restart your device.
**The install button is expected to disappear once you have successfully updated to the correct version.
