If the Multiplayer Options ("Live Players", "All players" and "Off (Group only)" are grayed out or if you can't see your friends.

 

RESTART MULTIPLAYER AND ONLINE SERVICES

  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Go to Options > General Data
  • Toggle Online Functionality, Bing Data World Graphics, Photogrammetry, Live Real-World Air Traffic, Live Weather and Multiplayer "OFF"
  • Click on Apply & Save
  • Toggle Online Functionality, Bing Data World Graphics, Photogrammetry, Live Real-World Air Traffic, Live Weather and Multiplayer "ON" again.
  • Click on Apply & Save

 

CHANGE YOUR XBOX ACCOUNT PRIVACY SETTINGS

Depending on the players' Xbox account privacy settings they may not appear online for anyone that isn't on their Xbox Live friend list. Each party member needs to review their privacy settings.

  • Go to Xbox.com
  • Click on the icon in the top right corner of the screen and log in with the email address|gamertag linked to Microsoft Flight Simulator 
  • Select Xbox Profile
  • Click on Privacy settings
  • Under Others set Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites to "Everyone"

 

REMOVE AND RE-ADD YOUR FRIEND TO THE IN-GAME AND XBOX FRIEND LISTS

 If the privacy settings of the party members are correctly set up, remove and re-add your friends.

  • Close Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Log in to Xbox.com
  • Go to your Profile
  • Under Friends & Club, click your friends' profiles
  • For each, click "Remove friend"
  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Click "Add friend" then enter the gamertag of a friend then click send
  • Once your friends have accepted the invitation, go back to Xbox.com and add them again to your Xbox Live Friend list.
