3rd party add-ons and Community folder

Follow

In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, you need to install your third-party content, which is downloaded outside of the sim, into your Community folder. This process is the same as in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

By default, you can find your community folder for MSFS 2024 in the following locations:

Steam

C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\Community

Microsoft store

C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

Note - It is strongly recommended that you verify that any add-on mods you plan to use are fully compatible with MSFS 2024. Failing to do so can cause issues within the sim itself.

If you want to check where your Community folder is located or change the location of your Community folder:

  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • Open Marketplace
  • Select "My Library"
  • Select "Settings" next to the search bar
  • Select "Open" if you wish to open the Community folder location
  • Select "Browse" if you wish to change the current Community folder location to somewhere else

You can check if your add-ons are installed correctly by doing the following:

  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • Open the marketplace
  • Go to "My Library"
  • Select "Community"
    • If you can see your add-on(s) here, it is installed correctly

NOTE: It is the developers' responsibility to ensure their products are compatible with MSFS2024. Therefore, even if you see the add-on correctly in your library, it might not function properly until the developer confirms that it is updated and compatible with MSFS2024.
