How to restore Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to its vanilla state to troubleshoot issues

Follow

If you are having loading, crashing and other issues with the simulator, first thing to do is to see if the issues are caused by one or more of your add-ons you are using with the simulator.

  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • In the main menu, select "Marketplace"
  • Then select "My library"
  • From My library, extend the filter for "Creators" and select all creators except Asobo and Microsoft
  • Then select the packages that are shown as "Streamed" and disable these packages
  • Close the simulator and rename your "Community" folder, for example, to "TestCommunity" (only on PC)
By default, you can find your community folder for MSFS 2024 in the following locations:
    • Steam
      C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages\Community
    • MS Store
      C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
  • Restart the simulator
    • If the issue is resolved:
      • Enable packages 1 by 1 until you find the package that is causing the issue
      • Move packages from "TestCommunity" folder to "Community" folder 1 by 1 until you find the package that is causing the issue.
      • If the issue is caused by one of your 3rd party add-ons installed in your Community folder, contact the developer for further assistance (only on PC)
    • If the issue persists -> submit a ticket to Zendesk for further assistance

For PC users only

If the issue persists after disabling the packages and renaming your community folder, delete the content inside "StreamedPackages" folder and try again.

    • Go to the "StreamedPackages" folder that is located here by default:

      • Xbox app/MS store

        • C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages

      • Steam

        • C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\StreamedPackages

    • Delete all packages and try again

      • If the issue is resolved -> enable packages 1 by 1 until you find the package that is causing the issue
