Purchase issues: The Buy & Download button is grayed out

A payment window will open when you click on the 'Buy and Download' button. You will also see a standard message that says 'Another transaction is still pending. Please wait a few moments, or contact support if the issue persists.'

The message will disappear after a few seconds if the payment is successful.

The notification "Purchase failed" will appear instead if the purchase is unsuccessful.

The Buy and Download button will remain unavailable if a transaction is still in progress.

There are various steps in the online payment process, and in some extreme cases, a payment can take up to several days. Depending on how long the transaction has been pending, you can do the following.

 

1. THE TRANSACTION HAS BEEN PENDING FOR LESS THAN 72 HOURS.

If the notification "purchase failed" didn't appear after a few minutes, sign out and restart the game to clear any connectivity issues. 

PC

  1. Click on your gamertag in the top right corner of the screen
  2. Click Sign out
  3. Close Microsoft Flight Simulator and wait a few moments
  4. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator again, and Sign in

 

XBOX

  1. Click on your gamertag in the top right corner of the screen
  2. Click Sign out
  3. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  4. Highlight Microsoft Flight Simulator then press the Menu button on your controller, and select Quit.
  5. Restart the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

 

CANCEL THE PURCHASE

If you are on Steam, you can cancel the purchase yourself.

  • Open Steam
  • Go to Account details, then select Purchase History.
  • Click on "view receipt" and cancel the transaction yourself. 

If you are on Xbox, Microsoft store, or Xbox app, you cannot cancel the pending order. Please wait 72 hours, then contact us if needed. 

 

2. THE TRANSACTION HAS BEEN PENDING FOR MORE THAN 72 HOURS.

If you restarted the game and waited 72 hours, but the Buy and Download button remains grayed out, the transaction may be "stuck" in the system. Please submit a request.

When filling out the contact form, select these options:

  • Contact Microsoft Flight Simulator support
  • MSFS 2020 (40th anniversary)
  • Marketplace and purchase issues
  • The "Buy and Download" button is grayed out
