There is no license sharing on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Each user needs to download the app on their own windows profile and log in to their own Microsoft account|gamertag. Mismatched account information can cause the payment to fail.
WINDOWS 10 USER PROFILE (PC)
If you're using a local (offline) account we recommend switching to a Microsoft account instead.
- Open Settings.
- Click on Accounts.
- Click on Your info.
- Click Sign in with a Microsoft account instead option to link the account with a Microsoft account.
- Log in with the email address you used to purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator
NOTE: If you have more than one Microsoft account and/or you purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator with a different address than your main Windows 10 account, we recommend adding a Windows 10 user profile for the account used to purchase the game. To add or remove Windows 10 user profile on your PC, follow the steps detailed in this article:
INSTALL THE XBOX APP
If you have purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator via the Microsoft Store or you redeemed the code on your Microsoft account, install the Xbox App. (If you have the Steam version, skip this step)
- Download & Install the Xbox app from this page: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass/pc-games
- Reboot your computer
- Sign in to the Xbox app with the email address used to purchase the sim/redeem the code.
- Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator from the Xbox app for Windows 10 PC instead of the Microsoft Store
You should now be able to purchase the content of your choice.
UPDATE YOUR BILLING ADDRESS AND PAYMENT OPTION

Sign in to the Microsoft account you want to update.Sign in
- Go to Payment & billing and select Address book. You can add or edit billing and shipping addresses here.
Note To change your default billing address, you may need to add a new address and then set it as your new default address.

- Go to Payment & billing and select Payment options. You can add or edit payment options here.
- Pick a payment method, and select View or edit card
Note Microsoft accepts payments from credit/debit cards, PayPal, and bank accounts.
DO NOT RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
If you always launch Microsoft Flight Simulator as admin from the app menu, try to launch the sim from the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app instead.
- Open the Microsoft Store app
- Go to Library
- Select Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Click Launch
CHECK THAT YOUR BILLING INFORMATION AND REGION SETTINGS ARE MATCHING
A) Ensure that the information from your payment method (card, paypal etc...) matches the billing information in your Microsoft account and your PC
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com
- Click on Payment & Billing in the top menu bar
- Select Adress book
- Edit or delete any outdated information
For instance, make sure that the address format is exactly the same and double-check that the country is correctly set up.
B) Make sure that the Region on your PC matches the information of your Microsoft account
- Go to Start, then select Settings > Time & Language.
- Select Date & Time and toggle the “Set time automatically setting" and “Set time zone automatically” to ON.
- Click on Synchronize your clock to synchronize your system's clock with an Internet time server.
- Then click Region, double-check that your country or region is correctly set up (for example if you live in Canada, make sure that the region isn’t automatically set to the USA or vice-versa)
ENABLE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL ON YOUR SYSTEM
- Go to Start and open Control Panel.
- Open Security and Maintenance > Change User Account Control settings.
- On the Choose when to be notified about changes to your computer page, move the slider to one of the top two notches closest to Always notify.
